MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

A fight at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in St. Paul sent two men to Regions Hospital with stab wounds to their stomachs on Sunday.

The incident happened around 6:15 p.m. near the corner of Dan Patch Avenue and Cooper Street, fair officials said.

Officials say Pnayrpeo Chap and Sarasovarn Sourng, both 28, are still at Regions Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Their conditions are not known, and police say they are not cooperating with the investigation.

Investigators say they believe the two victims knew each other and their attacker, adding that the incident probably was not random. Police say a group had been fighting for three to four minutes prior to the double-stabbing.

Police at the Minnesota State Fair said they knew the men were fighting before the violence broke out, but Minnesota State Fair Police Chief Arthur Blakey Jr. told FOX 9 News officers won't do anything differently going forward.

"Nothing differently," he said. "At roll call, we just tell our officers to be vigilant. They did a good job last night and continue to do a good job."

Officials are hoping the incident does not dissuade people from attending the fair. Blakey assured visitors the Minnesota State Fair has a very safe track record, and he says there are over 100 officers patrolling the fairgrounds -- both uniformed and undercover -- at all times.
