This year's Labor Day festivities in Downtown Detroit will include a speech by Vice President Joe Biden.
The annual parade will begin at 9 a.m. and members of the AFL-CIO will march down Michigan Avenue to Campus Martius. Vice President Biden is then scheduled to speak around noon on Monday.
"This is always a great day for labor in Detroit," said Chris Michalakis, president of the Metro Detroit AFL-CIO. The theme of this year's parade is "Protect Working Families."
The Vice President was in Detroit last Wednesday where he attended a rally in support of President Barack Obama's re-election. Almost 12,000 people packed Renaissance High School to hear him talk about jobs, the economy and Michigan making a comeback.
