ANN ARBOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (MyFox Detroit) -

There was gunfire in Ann Arbor Township Thursday morning after a "Blue Cab" driver picked up a man and a woman in the area of Plymouth and Dixboro.  They told him to drive to Superior Township, but when the driver asked for the money up front, one suspect pulled out a gun.

The driver tried to knock it away.  There was a struggle and the gun went off.

The driver was not hurt, but the cab's windshield was shattered.

"Spun around and pinned him in the back seat, and I had him down and he was like maybe 150 pounds soaking wet, and I had him down and knocked the gun out of his hand.  Had him sitting there and just something came over (me).  Since the gun was out of his hand, something said just let him up.  So I said, 'Hey, why are you trying to kill somebody over a lousy $20?'" said taxi driver Don Maschat.

The two suspects ran away, but were arrested a short time later.  Police also found and recovered the gun.
