ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Records show the suspect in the Colorado shooting rampage reported he applied to the University of Michigan along with five other graduate programs.

The information comes in records that the University of Iowa released, showing it rejected James Holmes from a graduate neuroscience program last year.

The 24-year-old is accused of opening fire during a showing of "The Dark Knight Rises," killing 12 people and injuring 58.

The records say he visited Iowa's campus for an interview and left the program director warning colleagues: "Do NOT offer admission under any circumstances."

Holmes says on his Iowa application that he also was applying to Michigan, Texas A&M, Kansas, Alabama and Colorado.

Colorado accepted him into its doctoral program, but he withdrew June 10.
