DDOT launches new real-time transit app

Posted: Updated:

Need to know DDOT's bus schedule? There's now an app for that.

Detroit Department of Transportation officials launched the new transit app Tuesday morning to commemorate the start of the school year. The app allows riders to access real-time transit schedules via text message from any basic mobile phone.

The program was developed by Code for America Detroit Fellows and funded by non-profit and federal grants.

According to DDOT's web site, riders can find the next bus by texting their closest intersection or street address to: 50464.
