DETROIT (AP) -- The Detroit City Council president says an armed man was stopped by police at City Hall and told officials he was heading to the council's chambers.
Charles Pugh says the man was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon and no one was hurt.
The Detroit Free Press (http://on.freep.com/OVnVwj ) says the suspect didn't make it past security gates at the Coleman Young Municipal Center. The building has guards, metal detectors and other screening for the public.
No one answered the phone when The Associated Press called the Detroit Police Department's public relations office Tuesday afternoon.
