DETROIT (MyFox Detroit) -

The corruption trial of former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick officially starts on Thursday, but lawyers made a last minute trip to the courthouse on Wednesday.

Lawyers for Kilpatrick and the government met behind closed doors with the judge.  We're told they talked about evidentiary matters and that there was nothing earthshaking.  As for the mood of the attorneys, they seemed calm, relaxed and confident.

Jury selection begins on Thursday.  It's expected to take a week, and it's going to be very contentious because they mayor says he can't get a fair trial.
