Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. leaves Mayo Clinic, back home

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. has returned to home in Washington after treatment for depression at Mayo Clinic, Jackson's chief of staff in suburban Chicago said Friday.
"He's at home in Washington convalescing with his wife and children," Jackson aide Rick Bryant told FOX Chicago News. "Let's hope he returns to work on Monday."
Bryant said he's not sure exactly when the Illinois congressman was discharged. Mayo Clinic spokesman Chris Gade referred all questions to Jackson's office.
Congress goes back into session Monday following its summer break. His leave of absence comes as the House Ethics Committee is looking into allegations that the congressman or one of his associates tried to buy the senate seat kept vacant when Barack Obama announced his run for presidency.
Congressman Jackson has denied any wrongdoing and has said that he's always done what's best for the voters in his district.
Jackson went on a secretive medical leave in June, when family members said he collapsed at home in Washington. He was being treated for bipolar disorder at the clinic in Rochester, Minn.
His office said in August that he was being treated at Mayo because of depression, after a transfer from the Sierra Tucson Treatment Center in Arizona.
The clinic had said Jackson was being treated for Bipolar II, which means he was suffering from periodic episodes of depression and hypomania. Hypomania is a less serious form of mania.
Alderman Sandi Jackson says she's glad to have her husband home again--and while he has left the Mayo Clinic, the congressman is still in constant contact with his doctors.
His aides say, "they're hopeful" the congressman will be on Capitol Hill Monday morning.
