Michigan flight forced to make an emergency landing

Grand Rapids, MI -

An American Eagle flight traveling from Michigan to Texas landed safely after a warning light flashed soon after takeoff.

Mlive.com is reporting that the Dallas-bound plane took off carrying 53 people from Gerald Ford International Airport and landed in Grand Rapids roughly 25 minutes later after an indicator light indicated a possible engine problem.

An airport spokesman says there was never a confirmed mechanical problem with the plane but technicians are examining why the light came on.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
