Teenage robbery suspect shot and killed outside grocery store

DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) -
Fox 2 is following breaking news Saturday night. A 17-year-old is dead. Police say he was shot and killed after trying to rob a man in a grocery store parking lot.

We're told a 50 year old man was sitting in his car in the busy parking lot of the Grand Land shopping center on Grand River. He says a group of teens walked up and tried to rob him. He tells police they flashed a gun, so he pulled his own weapon and fired at the teens. A 17-year-old was shot and killed.
The other suspects ran away before police arrived. Investigators are now reviewing surveillance tapes from the parking lot. Police say the 50 year old does have a permit to carry the gun. Stay with Fox 2 and myfoxdetroit.com for updates.
