Authorities have filed charges against three people in a shooting that began with an argument on a Detroit River cruise boat.
Latoiya Mitchell-Thomas was charged Monday with attempted murder and other crimes. Six people were wounded. Her husband, Michael Thomas, was charged with assault.
The Wayne County prosecutor's office says the couple had a fight with a woman aboard the Detroit Princess on Aug. 6. Authorities say Mitchell-Thomas fired into a crowd from a car when everyone had returned to shore. A third person, LaDon Richard, is charged with attempted murder for shooting at Thomas.
The names of their attorneys were not immediately known.
Prosecutor Kym Worthy defended the length of the six-week investigation. She says "real-life cases" aren't wrapped up in minutes like on a TV show.
