DETROIT (MyFox Detroit) -
A Detroit teen has pleaded guilty to charges he fatally shot his mother earlier this year.
Prosecutors say Joshua Smith, 14, pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree murder and is expected to face a sentence of 25 to 50 years in prison, along with a mandatory two years for a felony firearm conviction.
Smith was charged as an adult after prosecutors say he broke into a locked room, stole his stepfather's gun and shot Tamiko Robinson several times while she slept on the couch in her east side home back on Feb. 27.
Sentencing is scheduled before Judge Bruce Morrow on Oct. 26 at 8:30 a.m.
