SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

The Out of the Darkness community walks benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

By walking, you help support vital research and educational programs to prevent suicide and save lives.  Plus, you'll help raise awareness about depression and suicide and provide support for survivors of suicide loss.

There are a number of walks scheduled throughout the area.

This Sunday, the Oakland-Livingston walk takes place at Kensington Metropark in Milford.

The Downriver walk is Sunday, October 7 at Lake Erie Metropark in Brownstown, and the Westland walk is Saturday, October 13 at Nankin Mills off Hines Drive.

For more information on any of these walks, visit www.OutOfTheDarkness.org.
