SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Sources tell Fox 2 that Sam Riddle is out of federal prison and living at a halfway house in metro Detroit.

Riddle was convicted in a corruption scheme that involved then-Councilwoman Monica Conyers and a billion dollar sludge hauling contract.

He was sentenced to 37 months in prison after the FBI caught him taking bribes and serving as the "bag man" for Conyers.

He apologized to the court and the people of Detroit, and we're told he's looking forward to making a new start.

For now, he remains under federal supervision, but no longer behind bars.
