Police say a man suffered life-threatening injuries Wednesday morning after he lost control of his motorcycle on a local freeway ramp.

According to Michigan State Police, the driver, a man in his 50s from Macomb Township, was not wearing a helmet when he crashed his Harley Davidson on the eastbound ramp from I-94 to I-96 in Detroit around 5 a.m.

The man was transported to a local hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.

The ramp was closed during an investigation, but has since been re-opened.

It is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
