SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (myFOXDetroit.com) -
The deadline to register to vote in the 2012 election is Tuesday October 9, 2012.
In order to register in Michigan you must be a resident, a citizen, at least 18 years of age (by election day) and not serving a sentence in jail or prison.
You can register at any Secretary of State branch or your township or county's clerk's office. In Macomb County the county Clerk's Office will stay open until midnight on Tuesday to accept registration.
If you choose to send the application in by mail it must be postmarked by Tuesday, October 9, 2012.
