Every year nationwide, the American Cancer Society's annual event raise tens of millions of dollars in the fight against breast cancer.
"One of our key messages with Making Strides is to know your body, know when you should be screening, know what you should be asking your doctor," said Liz Filipowicz from the American Cancer Society. "It's also about raising money because we need the money to find new cures with research, to help provide programs and services for the patients and their families to help them get through their cancer journey."
Saturday's event is a 5K walk with a one mile option. It kicks off at 9:00 a.m. on the corner of Brush and Montcalm next to Comerica Park. Registration beings at 8:00 a.m.
