DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) -
Heading into the cold winter months DTE Energy and Gleaners Community Food bank are joining forces to help low-income families save money on their energy bills.
Volunteers are packing energy-saving products and information into food boxes that will be distributed to those in need across Southeast Michigan.
DTE Energy will be providing 140,000 Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs to the program along with information about free furnace tune-ups and home energy audits.
The idea is to help low-income families save money on their bills that can instead be used to pay for nutritious food and other basic needs.
