WJBK Detroit -
A clean sweep of the Yankees prompts another champagne frenzy in the clubhouse.
The Detroit Tigers are the 2012 American League Champions thanks to some great pitching and just enough hitting throughout the series to sweep the New York Yankees.
In the final game of the series clutch hitting was replaced by a barrage of bombs, as the team hit 4 home runs including two by Jhonny Peralta, one by Miguel Cabrera and Austin Jackson.
Max Scherzer had a no-hitter going through five innings until finally surrendering a hit in the sixth. The bullpen did the rest and fittingly reliever Phil Coke got to close out the win. FINAL SCORE 8-1.
The World Series starts Wednesday, October 24, right here on Fox 2.
Until then enjoy the celebration and this photo gallery as way to savor this sweet win over the Bronx Bombers. See ya A-Rod, we have a feeling this is the last time we'll see you in the playoffs as a Yankee.
