ROSEVILLE, Mich. - A city clerk in suburban Detroit says hundreds of absentee ballots for the upcoming election apparently haven't been delivered to area residents.
The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens reports Roseville City Clerk Richard Steenland on Wednesday mailed out postcards to 1,900 absentee voters to ask if they had received their ballots. He earlier heard from residents in the city and out of state about not yet receiving them.
So far, Steenland's office has received only about 40 percent of the 4,000 ballots mailed out. He says he delivered them to the post office on Oct. 9.
Steenland says the he can re-issue absentee ballots if needed before the Nov. 6 vote.
Earlier this week, Auburn Hills city clerk Terri Kowal reported a similar issue. She says more than 800 of the 1455 absentee ballots mailed this month were unaccounted as of Monday.
