A 34-Year old Ypsilanti Township man is charged with Murder and Child Abuse following the death of a 1-year-old boy he was babysitting.

Washtenaw County Deputies say they responded to a 911 call on Sunday about a child possibly choking. When deputies arrived Michael Curtiss was holding the toddler who was not breathing.

Deputies and paramedics performed CPR and the child was taken to St. Josephs Mercy Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The victim is identified as Chase Miller and the medical examiner determined he died from blunt force trauma to the head and the babysitter was responsible.

Curtiss was arraigned on 1st degree Murder and Child Abuse charges Thursday and was ordered held without bond. A preliminary exam is scheduled for Nov. 6.
