Former Detroit Deputy Mayor faces weapons charge

ROMULUS, Mich. (WJBK) -

A Former Detroit Deputy Mayor will face charges for bringing a loaded weapon into the airport.

The Wayne County Prosecutor announcing Anthony Adams has been charged with Possession of a Weapon in a Sterile Area of the Airport. Adams was arrested on October 18, at 6:58 p.m. inside the McNamara Terminal at Detroit Metro airport after a handgun was found in his carry-on bag as it passed through a x-ray machine.

Adams told FOX 2's Amy Lange by phone that he was rushing that day at the airport and forgot the weapon was in his carry-on. Follow the link to hear Amy's report.

The weapons charge is a one year misdemeanor and Adams is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing November, 29.
