The spirit of generosity generated warmth Saturday night in Dearborn Heights. HYPE Athletics, the Salvation Army, and FM98 WJLB sponsored the 30th annual Coats for Kids drive. The event was broadcast live from the HYPE recreation center on West Warren Ave.

Participants donated gently worn coats, hats, gloves and other winter wear for children in need in Metro Detroit.

"This is important because a lot of our children in poverty they need coats," said Artee Lewis with the Salvation Army. "They need to be warm, they need to be safe for the holiday season."
