Record turnout expected for 2012 election

Posted: Updated:

The early bird catches the a shorter line at polling station or something like that.  County clerks around metro Detroit say turnout for the November 6th Election will be large.

Even absentee ballot voting has been on the rise and created lines in some instances.

Fox 2's Amy Lange has a full report from Detroit.

In Oakland County, Clerk/Register of Deeds Bill Bullard Jr. says they expect near record turnout for the November 6th Election.

"It appears we may come a little short of the 96% return rate of absentee ballots we saw in 2008 but we will come very close to matching the raw number of absentee ballots casts", said Bullard. "I encourage everyone to visit www.oaklandvotes.com for any last minute questions they may have about their polling location and to see their personalized sample ballot. Lines may be long tomorrow but we have the best trained election staff of anyone in the country and we will get voters through the line as quickly as possible."
