President Barack Obama spent three hours on Staten Island on Thursday touring the area damaged by superstorm Sandy.

Among the people he met was Anthony Dimeglio, a chef who lost his home during the storm.

"He said he was sorry for not coming to Staten Island sooner.  He asked what I did and I said a chef and he said he hopes I cook for him some day," Dimeglio told GDNY on Friday.

Dimeglio was inside a FEMA tent checking on his status when he met the President.

"It's going to take a little bit. I understand. There are a lot of people (who need help,)" said the life-long Staten Island resident.

Dimeglio says he lived at street level and lost everything inside the apartment he shared with his wife when Sandy's waters flooded the area.

"I just feel better that he came to Staten Island because sometimes we really are like the forgotten borough."

Dimeglio and his wife are currently living with friends.

"At least I have a roof over my head," said Dimeglio.
