Fire officials in northern NJ say a woman and her teenage son were killed a fire that engulfed their home early Saturday morning.

55-year-old Jeralyn Scibetta and her 14-year-old son Daniel Scibetta were unable to escape the blaze from their home on Linden Avenue in Ridgefield. The fire broke out around 5:30 a.m. and authorities say Scibetta's husband Ben, her older son and his girlfriend were able escape from the fire.

Ben Scibetta was taken to Holy Name Hospital to get treatment for undisclosed injuries. The Bergen Record said it had no information if the older son and girlfriend were injured.

The fast-moving fire was so massive it needed firefighters from Ridgefield and several other towns to battle the blaze, which burned for several hours.

The Record said neighbors and firefighters attempted to save the victims but the fire spread too quickly.

Authorities are investigating the fire and don't know what sparked the blaze.
