How to talk to people at holiday parties who struggle to hear

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -- Holiday music, a gathering of people and hearing loss -- that's a recipe for aggravation.
It's estimated more than 25 million Americans have hearing loss and most people who could use a hearing aid don't wear one.
Hearing loss, especially during the holidays, can lead to feelings of anxiety, anger and depression.
So how do you handle it? Experts at Birmingham Bloomfield Audiology say make sure you always speak face to face. Don't smoke, chew or eat while speaking to someone with hearing struggles. It makes lip reading difficult. Speak at a natural pace and volume, and pick visual games rather than ones that rely on sound.
