DETROIT (WJBK) -- A Detroit mother wants answers after she says police tried to arrest her son on murder charges. The problem? Her son died over three years ago.

Mary Woods says three men claiming to be Detroit police officers arrived on her doorstep Sunday with guns drawn and a warrant for Devon Woods' arrest.

"I could not believe they were looking for my dead son", said Mary.

Devon, who was plagued with a long criminal history, was 21 years old in 2009 when he was shot and killed by Toledo police following a high-speed chase. Mary explained that to the men at her door. But they insisted on seeing proof that he was dead. "They had no respect for me at all. To them, they could care less," said Woods. "They told me they was doing their job. How can you sit up and tell me that you didn't know (he was dead)?"

Detroit police tell FOX 2 they're looking into the incident. But they do say the homicide department did not send officers to her home Sunday because they already knew Devon was dead.

Mary, however, is convinced the men were with DPD. She says she saw their squad car outside her home and she saw the same three men when she later visited her local precinct to get more information.
