Funeral services are set for an upstate New York Marine who was killed in Afghanistan last weekend.

Officials in the Saratoga County city of Mechanicville said that the body of Lance Cpl. Anthony Denier, 26, is scheduled to arrive at Albany International Airport late Monday morning. A procession will escort his body 15 miles north to his hometown, where his funeral will be held Tuesday morning at the American Legion post.

Afterward, Denier will be buried with full military honors at the Gerald Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

The Pentagon said Denier died Sunday after getting hit by enemy fire while conducting combat operations in Afghanistan's Helmand province. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force based at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has ordered flags on state government buildings to be flown at half-staff on Monday, December 10, 2012, in Denier's honor.

"I join with my fellow New Yorkers in mourning the loss of Lance Cpl. Denier," Cuomo said. "I extend my deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and fellow Marines. We will honor his service and sacrifice, and we are grateful for his dedication to our nation."
