Governor Snyder is past gateway of pleasing everyone - Fox 2 News Headlines

You have to wonder sometimes if Gov. Rick Snyder ever wishes he was back grinding out computers at Gateway where 12,000 customers never showed up on the company lawn to complain about the product or where he never had to consider whether to allow his employees to pack heat on the shop floor.

But here he is stuck in the midst of yet another defining moment.  First Right to Work and now guns in schools.

A bill sits on his desk that passed the pro-gun legislature revamping the state's concealed weapons dogma.  Heretofore there were gun-free zones where the concealed weapon was verboten.

Now the good governor gets to decide if the original concept was wrong and indeed guns should be allowed in hospitals, day-care centers, churches, sports arenas and schools.

Schools?

Didn't something just happen in a school involving guns?

Oh yeah and that certainly complicates this governor's life.

He negotiated in good faith with the bill's sponsor Sen. Mike Green (R-Mayville).  Green made a number of concessions to get the governor on board and was assured the governor would sign the bill even though it was certainly not on his agenda.

So the governor made a commitment and now will he break it?

Sound familiar?

The labor guys in town thought they were in the some boat with the governor on RTW but how did that commitment work out?  Labor says not so good.  The governor counters he did not break it.

But here we go again.

The governor, on the gun issue, confesses the shooting in Connecticut gives one "serious pause" and makes him wonder "is it appropriate?"

Perhaps some will say he should have thought about that before he shook Mr. Green's hand.  After all there had been other school shootings over the years and he could have factored that into his thinking not knowing another one would tragically occur the day after the bill was passed.

If he did factor in the other school shootings, he obviously concluded he was still good with this bill. And if he didn't factor it in, so much for him making decisions based on data.

Here's his conundrum. If he keeps his word and signs the measure, the anti-gun crowd will shout, "What is it about Connecticut you didn't get governor?"  Or if he vetoes the thing, the pro-gun side will vehemently argue, "You broke your word and folded to outside political pressure and you call yourself a non-career politician?"

So the whole world is starring at the former computer salesman one more time and wondering which Gov. Snyder will stand up on this one?  Either way someone will be hacked.
