NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Police in Newark, N.J. are investigating two weekend stabbings, one of which left a nine-year-old boy in critical condition.

In the first incident, the young victim was found about 10 p.m. outside of 265 Morris Avenue with several stab wounds.

The child, who has not been publicly identified, was rushed to University Hospital.

In the second incident, the body of an unidentified black woman was found on Newton Street. Police say she appeared to have suffered several stab wounds.

An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

Police think the stabbings are related and say the attacks do not appear to be random.

Police have not made any arrests.
