RIVER ROUGE, Mich. (WJBK) -- A photographer from the Michigan State Police Crime Lab snapped pictures of a grizzly scene Monday.  Multiple markers indicated shell casings where 22-year-old Dionte Sweeney was shot and killed.  Neighbors heard rapid gunfire at 3:00 a.m. on the final day of 2012.

Sweeney was dead on the lawn outside his River Rouge apartment on the 500 block of Beechwood.

Investigators have very little to go on.  Sweeney was a security guard at Ford Field.  He worked the Lions' games, concerts and all events.  He was single and lived in the apartment with his girlfriend.  She is not considered a suspect.  Police want tips to help identify the shooter.

As she watched horrified at the murder scene of her own son, Sweeney's mother said she had no idea who would want to hurt her boy.

"I just want somebody to come forward so we can find out who killed my son," she said.

Patricia Livingston told me her nephew had never been in a lick of trouble.  He was an athlete in school.

"This is an innocent young man that led a decent life."

Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 reward.  Call 1-800-SPEAK-UP.  You can remain anonymous.
