DETROIT (WJBK) -- Around 5:00 a.m. Monday morning, the last day of the year, a Citgo gas station at Evergreen and Fenkell in Detroit was the spot where four thugs decided to do some dirt.

Dressed in all black, faces covered, surveillance video shows the first guy barged in with a big gun.  The clerk called it an AK-47.

The employee was sitting behind the counter with a female friend, who stopped by to give him some food.  Everything was fine and in a moment everything changed.  Video shows them jump, startled by the smashing of glass.  Three more guys inside a stolen van rammed it into the building.

What were they after?  The ATM.  Video shows them trying with all their might to move it and while that was happening three shots were fired.  One hit the 43-year-old woman, who was visiting, an innocent woman shot.  Another one barely missed the man who makes his living at the gas station.  He dove down just enough to save his life.

The owner shared the video with us because people need to see what's happening.  Sadly, scenes like this are becoming the norm in Detroit -- young men destroying property, stealing, shooting people, sometimes killing them, and they don't even care.

The van they took from somebody was left behind.  The getaway car was a white Villager with gold stripes.

The woman that was hit is going to be okay.  She was shot in the foot.

The suspects did not get any money or merchandise.
