Philly Firefighters Demand New Contract Outside City Hall

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Firefighters in Philadelphia tell FOX 29 a rally held outside of city hall Thursday was a bit of a disappointment.

The firefighters, who have demanded new contracts from the city, claim they haven't had a pay raise in nearly four years.

Instead of the more than 100 people organizers were expecting at the Thursday rally, only about 24 actually showed up.

Still, firefighters say their message is clear - it's time to get their money.

An arbitrator granted the city's firefighters a new contract, which would have given them a three percent raise.

However, the city has appealed it, claiming it cannot afford the deal.
