Thanks to "the tremendous efforts of staff," Arizona Department of Economic Security says payment of extended unemployment benefits will go out for the week ending January 5, 2013.
The department made some computer programming changes as a result of the federal government's last-minute extension of emergency unemployment benefits.
Congress passed the legislation and President Barack Obama signed it this week.
DES said earlier Friday there may be a delay in receipt of benefits by up to seven business days, but luckily, that was avoided. Roughly 35,000 Arizonans who rely on these benefits were saved by the fast work of DES.
Qualifying individuals are encouraged to continue filing for benefits.
