CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
McHenry County Judge Maureen McIntyre will preside over the involuntary manslaughter case of a nephew of former Chicago Mayor Richard Daley.
McHenry County Chief Judge Michael Sullivan selected McIntyre on Friday. His decision came after the Illinois Supreme Court ruled the case should be heard by a judge outside Cook County.
Richard "R.J." Vanecko is charged with involuntary manslaughter. A fight on Division Street between Vanecko and 22-year-old David Koschman resulted in the death of the latter, back in 2004.
Last month, Cook County Chief Judge Timothy Evans recused himself to avoid any "appearance of impropriety" that might come from allowing a judge in Cook County, where Daley was so influential for many years, to oversee the case.
The trial will remain in Cook County jurisdiction.
