Freshman Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema gets an appointment in the new Congress. The Phoenix Democrat has been appointed as "Assistant Whip."
A whip is responsible for making sure party members vote the way leadership wants them to.
House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer says Sinema will work on creating jobs and other issues important to middle class families.
She's also been tapped to serve on the House Financial Services Committee.
In a statement, Sinema said in part: "Hardworking families can no longer afford to wait for a congress that gridlocks on ideology. I look forward to working with my colleagues from both parties to get things done."
