ROBBINS, Ill. (FOX 32 News) -
The village of Robbins is seeing some turnover in its administration with the police chief retiring after a DUI arrest and the mayor also planning to step down.
Former police chief Johnny Lewis Holmes' December arrest was his second DUI arrest in three years. Midlothian police said his blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit when he was arrested.
Holmes said it is time for him to move on, and is best for everyone involved. The 66-year-old worked at the police department for thirty-three years, having been with the Robbins Police Department since 1991. He retired last week.
The mayor of Robbins is leaving her job too. Irene Brodie has held that job for more than 30 years. She said she plans to resign by the end of the week.
Brodie said it had nothing to do with the police chief's situation or retirement.
"I'm tired," Mayor Brodie told the Chicago Tribune. "I'm just plain old tired."
