VOORHEES, N.J. -

With the start of the shortened NHL season just days away, the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday held their first official training camp at the Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone.

Much of the team arrived Sunday morning around 8:30 a.m. to begin workout sessions before taking the ice, the team's official website reports.

The players were scheduled to get on the ice for two training sessions.

Team officials also made some moves Sunday, including adding defenseman Kurtis Foster to the training camp roster, according to the team's website.

The Flyers open the 2012-2013 regular season at home against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday.

The shortened schedule has NHL teams playing through the end of April.
