OAK PARK, Mich. (WJBK) -- It's week two of our 21 Day Challenge, but it's not too late to join us. For some, it's jump-started a healthy, new way of living.
When we first launched our 21 Day Challenge in January 2012, Joanne Graves and Lisa Brohl jumped right in.
"A year ago, I was about 25 pounds heavier and just stuck," said Brohl.
So why not try our 21 Day Challenge? Five dos include veggies, lean proteins, fruits, whole grains and water, and five don'ts are soda, fried foods, white bread, alcohol and dessert.
The simple plan worked for Brohl and Graves. Together they are now around 50 pounds lighter.
"Right now I'm maintaining about 25," said Brohl.
"I've hit 25, but I [fluctuated] with the holidays gaining a couple pounds," said Graves.
The two one-time strangers are now friends and said as important as the rules of the challenge is the support they get.
"I may have had times where I fell off the wagon, but I was able to get back on because of their support," Graves said.
That support mostly comes from our 21 Day Challenge Facebook page -- a group of more than 1,000 people that are kind, motivational and inspiring.
Brohl said one reason the group is so helpful is the accountability.
"We all want to help each other succeed."
A year later, these ladies and many others have turned 21 days into a lifelong change.
"It started out as 21 days last year, but it went into the whole year. We did walks and everything," said Graves.

Making healthy choices at the grocery store can be difficult. With deceiving labels, and buzz words like 'organic,' 'all-natural' and 'heart-healthy,' it's tough to decide what to buy.
