CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
One more thing, about an idea I have for the city. Chicago's parking meter deal has been widely criticized, and with the new year and the new higher rates to park, nobody's happy.
There's not much anybody can do about it. But someone has at least figured out a way to make better use of those feared folks who write the parking tickets.
A parking enforcement worker in Coral Gables just outside Miami writes tickets, but when he's not doing that--which is most of the time--he's recognized as an ambassador for the city; giving directions, answering questions about businesses in the area, and promoting goodwill in the community.
At a time when city government is cutting back, trying to do more with less, and businesses need all the help they can get, this is a great idea. Meter maids are walking around all the time anyway. This would be good for their image.
What about it Mayor Emanuel? It wouldn't cost you, or the citizens of Chicago one extra cent.
