NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Pregnant singing sensation Shakira and boyfriend soccer star Gerard Pique are asking fans to buy gifts for underprivileged children instead of showering them with items for their first child.

The Colombian entertainer who is also a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF has set up a website where fans can spend as little as $5 to buy a mosquito net or $10 for polio vaccines.

"The countdown begins! And we'd like to invite you to participate in our World Baby Shower joining efforts with UNICEF" reads a post accompanied by a picture of the couple on Shakira.com.

The 35-year-old and Pique are expecting a boy.
