Is fitness your goal for the New Year? There's an app for that!

There are many gadgets out there which can help you track your daily progress and count calories you burn while working out at the gym.

The Fit Bit tracker is one of those. It can sync with a scale to your smart phone and computer to help give you see if you have met your goals.

Jawbone makes a wrist band called the Jawbone Up. It is essentially the same thing as the Fit Bit with a different interface.

These tracking devices are about to become so sophisticated this year that a wrist band will soon be able identify the exercise you are doing, count the reps and track your workouts.

Fitness expert Lane Montgomery of Go Performance Fitness in Peachtree City, likes the idea of apps and gadgets, but says if your fitness gadget or app links to social media like Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, you stand a better chance of meeting your fitness goals.

Gyms are full of tech gadgets these days. The treadmills at Go Performance have built-in Android tablets and HD televisions.

The treadmill links to Google Maps, so you can plot your route and the treadmill reads the elevation changes. The tablet then shows you a street view and you can run courses all over the world.

There are also gadgets that will track your sleep each night, there a blood pressure cuffs that will sync to your smartphone.

And don't forget about headphones. Make sure to check out some of the headphones on the market that are sweat resistant.
