Detroit music icon Luis Resto holds a Grammy and an Oscar (2003) from his co-writer work with Eminem on 'Lose Yourself'.
Resto continued on to a solo career and has released two albums, 'Combo de Momento' (2010) and 'One Small Light' (2012).
Along with his solo work, Resto has worked with other musicians, including Patti Smith, Stevie Nicks, Mel Torme, Anita Baker, The Highway Men, 50 Cent, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne.
Resto will be performing live at 9 p.m. at the Jazz Café on Thursday, Jan. 24. His performance titled 'The (Dequindre) Cut' is a collaboration between himself and photographer Michelle Andonian. This live multimedia performance is inspired by and visually explores the de-industrialized track that runs behind Eastern Market. The music blends traditional and electronic instruments into an exciting presentation.
The Jazz Café is located at 350 Madison in Detroit. Tickets are $30 (includes CD) in advance or $35 at the door. They are available at The Music Hall Box Office or Ticketmaster. For more information about the show or to purchase tickets, visit www.jazzcafedetroit.com or visit the Music Hall's online box office at www.musichall.org.
