CLAWSON, Mich. (WJBK) -- Moose Winooski's in Clawson is a place where the portions are plentiful and there's always a seat at the bar.  So how did the man behind the menu manage to lose more than 100 pounds?

"I weighed just over 300 pounds.  309 pounds to be exact," said Kevin Roberts.

The 49-year-old is the kitchen manager of this local hangout.  In fact, he has worked in the food industry all his life.  That was part of the problem.

"You get comfortable in your situation.  You've already got your mate, and you think, 'Okay, time to let loose.'  And I did.  I got up to 362 pounds," Roberts explained.

Up and down his weight would go.  So in January of 2012, he decided to join our 21 Day Challenge.

"Within a couple weeks, I mean it was just unreal how fast it was coming off," he said.  "My doctor was regulating everything, making sure I wasn't going overboard, and he said I was doing it right.  I couldn't believe the amount of weight that I was losing."

Our 21 Day Challenge says do eat fruits, veggies, lean proteins, whole grains and drink water.  Avoid soda, dessert, fried foods, white bread and alcohol.

Roberts said the biggest change involved the soda.

"I was drinking probably [a couple] two liters a day... between home and here."

When he started the 21 Day Challenge, he weighed 309 pounds.  Now he's down to 207 pounds, and he has turned 21 days into a lifetime.

Perhaps even more impressive is the arthritis pain he felt in his knees every day is gone.

"This last four months I had no knee pain at all," Roberts said.

He believes the Facebook group page dedicated to our 21 Day Challenge has given him the support and motivation to keep going.
