Philadelphia Officers Hurt While Making Arrest

Posted: Updated:

Two Philadelphia Officers are out of the hospital, following a violent arrest Friday night.

Police say a man parked his car in front of Cameron Seafood on North Broad St. and left the car running with his two children still inside. That's when another man got into the car, and tried to drive off. Fortunately the gear shift didn't work, so the attempted carjacker couldn't get away.

The two children managed to escape from the car and told their father what happened.  The father then flagged down a beat cop working in the area and told them about the attempted carjacking.

Several officers were called out to the scene. Two of them were hurt trying to arrest the suspect. Officials say they were taken to Roxborough Hospital for minor injuries. The suspect was arrested after a brief scuffle.

Police believe the two officers broke their hands. They were released from the hospital.
