CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
The gun violence here in Chicago has taken a devastating toll on one family.
A mother has lost her fourth child to Chicago violence.
Police say someone shot Ronnie "Scooby" Chambers, 33, in the head early Saturday morning when he was sitting in a car with another man in the city's Lawndale neighborhood.
The other man was injured. Chambers died at the scene.
In a YouTube video dated last month, Ronnie "Scooby" Chambers told TV host Ricki Lake he needed to protect his mother, Shirley, and stay away from Chicago's violence.
But now police sources say "Scooby" is his mother's fourth and final child to be killed in Chicago violence.
"I had two brothers and a little sister. They got killed in Cabrini-Green," Chambers told Ricki Lake.
In 1995, Fox 32 News covered the shooting of his 18-year-old brother, Carlos, near State and Jackson in the Loop.
And five years later, the murder of his 15-year-old sister, LaToya, at the former Cabrini-Green homes. She was accidentally shot and killed by a 13-year-old boy, who police say meant to shoot LaToya's boyfriend.
Records show police arrested Ronnie "Scooby" Chambers 29 times. He was also a convicted felon.
Tonight, Shirley Chambers mourns the loss of all her children.
"Scooby" Chambers went on the Ricki show to encourage a young Chicago man to avoid gang violence. But it appears he couldn't avoid the violence himself.
"I told him you're going to make it," Chambers told Lake. "So I'm going to keep him on the right track, and I know for a fact he's going to make it because I'm going to help him. That's what I'm going to do."
