Two Minnesota troopers were hit by an accused drunk driver while they were responding to a rollover crash at the ramp for westbound Interstate 494 and northbound Interstate 35W.
One of the troopers was not injured at all, an the other complained of whiplash. Both are expected to be OK.
Video footage shows at least five patrol cars with flashing lights and flares were on scene. Troopers had closed the ramp, but 39-year-old Maurice Blevins, of Richfield, came down the ramp and sideswiped one squad before directly rear-ending another. Both troopers were sitting in the drivers' seats at the time.
"With the amount of emergency vehicles and flares and everything, for them to drive right through all of them and hit two squad cars just shows the dangers of alcohol," Lt. Eric Roeske said. "No one is safe."
Blevins had three passengers in his car, including a 14-year-old and 11-year-old. It is unclear whether they are related.
Officials say Blevins will likely be charged with criminal vehicular operation.
