Words of support from Newark to Newtown

NEW JERSEY (MYFOXNY.COM) -

Students at University Heights Charter School in Newark, N.J., have teamed with Big Brothers Big Sisters to create a special gift for children in Newtown, Conn.

They are carefully crafting Valentine cards with messages of hope and courage. It is a caring sense of selflessness. Carlos Lejnieks, the president and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Essex, Hudson and Union Counties in New Jersey, says that is at the core of the mentoring program.

BBBS will have one more writing letter day before sending them all out. The goal is to get them to the Newtown school district by Valentine's Day.
