American Idol: Where are they now?

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Over 10 years ago Kelly Clarkson took home the inaugural American Idol crown and went from working in a movie theater to selling over 24 million albums.

Forbes just released its list of top-earning American Idols. Kelly came out on top with $8 million.

From Season 4, Carrie Underwood, then a college student and now a successful country musician, took the second spot on the list. She tied with Chris Daughtry, although Chris placed fourth in Season 5 he proves that you don't have to win to make it big!

Just ask Jennifer Hudson. She came in seventh place during Season 3 and besides having her debut album certified gold, she took home an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for her film debut in "Dreamgirls."

Jordin Sparks was in high school when she won Season 7. She went on to sell over one million albums and conquered the big screen in "Sparkle," starring alongside Whitney Houston.

Clay Aiken was the runner up in Season 2 and has become more than a triple threat. He is an activist, singer, producer, and author.

New York local Pia Toscano was a wedding singer before she placed ninth in Season 10 of American Idol. Now she lives in Los Angeles where she is working on her debut album.

We found Sanjaya Malakar living in New York. He works as a bartender in the East Village. He placed seventh in Season 6 and has gone through six managers but is now working on a self-produced album with a more mature Sanjaya sound.

News isn't breaking -- it's already broken apart into something completely different than it once was. And all you need are these two reliable sources to verify that fact: the millennial generation and one a few before it.It's unclear what's scarier: how much news has changed or that someone knows Joel Waldman and not Murrow, Cronkite or Brokaw. Either way, with the emergence of everything from Twitter and Facebook and alternative news websites from Mashable to Gawker.

Music is a powerful force that impacts how we feel, think and react to many things in life. Music has healing power, sets a mood and even influences how we eat and shop. Whether you're at the grocery store or shoe shopping, there's usually music on. Music is everywhere and we can listen to whatever we want.
